Character creation

All player characters will be an occult listed in our bestiary tab. The abilities for each are given as examples so there is room for customization although character powers and traits shouldn't stray too far from the concepts provided. For instance, if an occult is listed as having an affinity for water magic, they could potentially have ice manipulation but could not channel earth magic instead.

FROM EDEN is a human-based group therefore designs should be either recognizably human or have an alternative form that is. Some occults may have animalistic or monstrous traits but generally you won't be allowed to play anthros, ferals, or completely inhuman creatures unless it's a temporary shift such as with polymorphs. Details including horns, tails, and non-human features are acceptable so long as it makes sense for the occult. So while a demon may have horns, a harpy could not - Although both can have wings. All occults may have unnatural eyes and modified teeth.

Stats

Occults will start with 2 proficiency points in their stat spread. These are based on typical abilities and folklore. Players will then get an additional 6 points to allocate as they see fit for a total of 8. Stats will have a minimum of +0 and a maximum of +3 to their modifiers.

There is no dedicated ability stat in FE. Instead abilities will have corresponding rolls depending on what they're meant to do, so stats should reflect the powers you decide to give a character.

• Strength – Direct physical actions, general athleticism, non-magical engagement

Perception – Studying behavior, noticing details, charisma checks

Endurance – Taking a hit, resisting temptation, pushing yourself

Agility – Reaction time, out speeding, stealth checks, mobility prowess

Mana – Special attacks, magical attunement, “sixth sense”, non-physical engagement

Temporary stat changes may be present in roleplay through the use of powers or other in-character reasoning. These can only be given by +/-1 increments. Buffed stats cannot exceed +3; Debuffed stats cannot go lower than -1. You may also be asked to roll with advantage or disadvantage instead.

— Examples of buffs are: Blessing abilities, working together efficiently, character-based expertise in a matter, acting on advice give by NPCs

— Examples of debuffs are: Hexing abilities, pushing forward with a heavy injury, choosing a caveat that impedes your character

Application Process

Visual application
– You must provide at least a colored sketch full body of your character.
– References should be drawn by you, commissioned, or used with artist's permission.
– Face claims and reference images cannot be submitted in the place of application art.
– Shifters do not need a reference of their alternate forms but you can provide those separate from the official app if you would like to.
– Characters of all genders need to have clothes covering their lower bodies and breasts. This rule remains in place for those who do not have human anatomy on either of those parts.
– When portraying details related to sensitive topics (ex. old self-harm scars on someone who has recovered) please do so with respect.

Written application
– Include a character's full name even if they don't go by it.
– All characters must be over the age of 21 and have appearances that reflect this. Some occults do have longer lifespans or halted aging, but we won't be permitting any minors in the player cast.
– Sensitive content in histories will need to be clearly indicated. Include warnings for each topic at the beginning of the section.
– Everyone begins with two abilities upon creation. You'll be able to unlock more down the line.
– Shapeshifting for polymorphs, merfolk, and doppelgangers is a given and does not count as an ability slot.
